NHL Lockout: Reports Surface That NHL Plans To ‘Go Big’ With Announcement Of Next Cancellation Of Games

The NHL Lockout may have just caused us to miss two weeks of the 2012-2013 NHL regular season thus far, but reports are surfacing stating that we are about to lose a lot more games over the coming days, with the league getting set to announce the cancellation of much more than the next two weeks.

Chris Botta of SportsBusiness Journal said that it is going to be much more.

“NHL went easy with soft first cancellation of games. Had no impact. League will go big this week,” Botta tweeted on his Twitter account.

Forget about the games from last week through next week. With the next announcement due out soon, we can probably forget about games through Thanksgiving. With another few weeks of stalled negotiations, we can forget about seeing any regular season action prior to Christmas.

And then the Winter Classic will be wiped out. And then the All-Star Game, and then…

Well, you see where I’m going.

New talks are scheduled for this Tuesday, so they could impact just how many games are cancelled in the next announcement from the NHL that could come as soon as Thursday. As of now, things do not appear much better than bleak.
