VIDEO: Minnesota Wild’s Devin Setoguchi’s shoot out tumble earns rank of best blunders

Published on March 2, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

Devin Setoguchi’s tumbler during the shootout against the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night earned the Wild winger a spot among the best blunders during the shootout.

In fact, it may be the best yet. If recent history has served us best, there has been some good ones. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

3. Ilya Kovalchuk

Back in November of 2010, Ilya Kovalchuk of the New Jersey Devils had quite a famous mishap. Kovalchuk pursued his target, but without the puck.

2. Dennis Wideman

And prior to that, we had Dennis Wideman’s massive spill. And this one mattered quite a bit, looking like he would have had it, too.

1. Devin Setoguchi

And here’s what happened tonight. The game practically rested on the shoulders of Devin Setoguchi. Or at least, to extend the shootout. For a game between two teams outside the playoffs picture at this point, the end result sure did pay off. I’m sure we’ve all been there — in some way — of the gaffe Setoguchi performed. His was just on a grander, and more embarrassing scale. There’s always next time.

When watching Setoguchi tonight, what else comes to mind? Feel free to post your favourite blunder as a comment.
