Trade Rumor: Chicago Blackhawks may be looking at Washington Capitals’ Jeff Schultz

Published on January 11, 2012 by   ·   1 Comment

It’s no secret the Chicago Blackhawks have lost a few games based on defensive lapses.

Meanwhile guys like Corey Crawford and Ray Emery have taken heat. Not by coach Joel Quenneville, but by fans.

There’s only so much a goalie can do, but Chicago GM Stan Bowman can do a bit more. Such as, bulking up the blueline.

It’s rumored that the Blackhawks may be looking at Washington Capitals’ Jeff Schultz.

Tim Sassone of the Chicago Daily Herald tweeted this last night:

Meanwhile, Washington Capitals beat reporter for the Washington Times, Stephen Whyno, acknowledges this as a possibility, and has this on his radar, too.

Here’s what we should know about Schultz:

The first-round NHL pick back in 2004 is in his sixth year, and this year has just amounted five assists, but obviously the Blackhawks see some value in him.

However, he’s only played two of the last 13 games, according to CSN Washington.

Expect the Caps to get some bang out of this D-man before sending him down to Hershey to play with the Bears.

This is much ado about nothing. Schultz stinks, and the player who the Caps get from Chicago in return for Shultz will probably stink also…
