Toronto Maple Leafs’ John-Michael Liles on IR with ‘concussion-like symptoms’

Published on December 27, 2011 by   ·   No Comments

““We’re shutting him down for a few days,” said Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson, on John-Michael Liles, according to the Toronto Star. “He was better today, but not ready to go.”

Liles is the latest to be shelves because of a concussion.

The 31-year-old defenceman was injured on a play Thursday against Buffalo’s Paul Gaustad.

This year, the Maple Leafs lost goalie James Reimer for several weeks due to an undisclosed concussion. Additionally, third liner Colby Armstrong hid symptoms of a concussion from team trainers.

There is no time table for Liles’ return. Wilson said “it’s best if he just sits out and stays away from the rink a couple of days.”

At least the Leafs are being transparent with this concussion, right?

The Leafs visit the Florida Panthers tonight, and Kris Versteeg, a former Leaf.
