Pittsburgh Penguins’ Deryk Engelland will meet with Brendan Shanahan to discuss hit on Marcus Kruger

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Deryk Engelland may very well see a slap on the wrist and a couple of games off the ice after a questionable hit against the Chicago Blackhawks’ Marcus Kruger.

Just nine minutes into the first period, Engelland sized up Kruger along the boards and made a borderline jumping motion, knocking down the rookie centre for the Blackhawks.

TSN panel believed the case was worthy of review before word came out Shanahan would look at it.

Next question is, will Engelland get a suspension?

For context, Engelland broke into the NHL three years ago by playing nine games. He fought three times. Last year, he played the course of over 60 games, fighting 13 times. And, this year, he’s up to four fights.
