Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding named NHL first star of the week

Minnesota Wild net minder Josh Harding was named NHL first star of the week today after posting three straight victories last week.

From the Canadian Press:

Harding posted a 0.99 goals-against average and .968 save percentage to help the Wild (7-3-3) climb to second place in the Northwest Division.

Forward Loui Eriksson of the Dallas Stars was named second star and forward Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals took the third star.

Eriksson had two goals and four assists in two games last week to help the Stars (10-3-0) stay on top of the Western Conference standings. Backstrom scored three goals and added three assists as the Capitals (9-3-0) won two of three games to remain in first place in the Southeast Division.

Niklas Backstrom (3-3-2, 2.3 GGA), Minnesota’s intended No. 1 going into the season, will start Tuesday against the Calgary Flames.

However, Harding is out-performing with a 4-0-1 record and a slim 1.18 GGA.

But there’s no goalie controversy in Minnesota while Harding has been playing like a No. 1. The Wild are just in a very good situation right now sitting in fourth in the Western Conference.

The 37-year-old Mike Yeo appears to be doing the State of Hockey some due justice playing his cards right with what they got in the net, in addition to a few other factors during the off season.

All in all, the Wild
