Ovechkin move to Nike now official

Published on September 7, 2011 by   ·   No Comments

Alexander Ovechkin is now a member of Team Nike.

Alexander Ovechkin grins during Tuesday's press conference in which he announced a lengthy deal which he'll sport Nike Bauer equipment.

The athletic apparel company and the Washington Capitals captain held a joint press conference Tuesday in which a six-year deal of endorsement was announced.

Ovechkin’s contract with CCM just expired, and so the agreement was made official as soon as possible, already draped in Nike swag.

According to Hockey Gear Review (Twitter: @HG_Review), No. 8 will wear the following:

APX skates
Vapor 60 gloves
Vapor APX stick
9500 helmet
TotalOne pants

Great breakdown by Hockey Gear Review.

And for the record, Ovechkin dismissed claims of being a little pudgy, when asked. In fact, he’s confident in his new routine that he’ll be back better than ever.
